Hi, guys. I’m glad to meet you again here. Telling a story is
very important for students who want to join with the story telling competition.
The students have to prepare the reading text, learn it by hearth, and of
course mentally preparation. Remember, telling a story in English need some
aspects, such as English skills, good pronunciation, fluency, expression, and
so on. I give you a great story about the legend of Lake Ngebel. You may use
and practicing the story. Time duration is not more than seven minutes.
(Opening/singing;
adopted Lyric: Million Dream)
Cause every night I lie in bed
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what story behind it
A vision of the one I see
A million people are coming to the place
Assalamu’alaikum wr wb.
Hello..everyone, I’m glad to see you here. I’ve sung about
Lake Ngebel. There’s a great story behind it. Do you want to know it?
Well..at this moment I’m
telling a story about “THE LEGEND OF LAKE NGEBEL”.
Once upon time, there was a small village, The villagers would held a feast.. Some villagers went into the forest to find foods for the feast. But after long time, they didn’t get any animals. They sat under the big tree to take a rest.
“huh..look at this, the blood… ! it must be a big animal.
Come on, let’s take its meat.” One of the villager shouted to the others.
Then, without thinking about what kind of animal it was, they
cut the meats as many as possible and brought it to the village.
They didn’t know that it was the meat of a huge dragon that
meditated for long time at the forest called “Baru Klinting”.
Miraculously, the dragon transformed into a little boy.
During the feast. They ate and drank together. Yeahh… the big
party with a lot of delicious foods and
drinking water. Suddenly, from the outside..
“..hemmm..oh…excuse me..hemm… I’m hungry.. Would you give me
some foods?” Baru Klinting requested.
“huuh.. go away…!, you are an ugly boy! Don’t make us loosing
appetite? Said one of the villagers.
When he came to other villagers, they insulted him and drove
away.
Finally, he met very old poor woman.
“hem..hem.. grandma.. I’m very hungry. Could you please give
some foods?”
The woman only have a plate of rice, she was also hungry.
However, she gave her rice to the boy.
“hmm.. of course son. Here it is. Please eat my rice.”
“ooo… o, my God. nyam..nyam… it is delicious. You know, I
haven’t eaten for some days. Thank you grandma. “
Baru Klinting was touched by the old poor woman’s kindness.
“Okay Grandma, listen
to me. A flood will happen at this village. You should leave the village by
using a mortar.” Said Baru Klinting.
Then, Baru klinting went back to the feast. He said loudly.
“Hi.. Look at me! Pull the stick out of the ground. If you
can do, I’ll leave from this village.” Said Baru Klinting while planted his
stick into the ground.
“ha..ha..ha…ha.. stupid boy. It’s just easy to me to…uh..uh…pull..
“ a strong and big man failed. He couldn’t pull it out. The other people tried
to pull the stick one by one. And all of them failed too.
“huh… see! you are actually very weak.” Said Baru Klinting.
“I’ll inform you. Actually, I am a meditating dragon in the forest, then you
cut my meat and eat it. You are very greedy.’ Baru Klinting said angrily.
“look… I can pull it out easily.”
Surprisingly from the hole came out the water that increased
swiftly and formed a lake. All the
villagers drowned except the old woman who helped Baru Klinting. By the local people, the lake is named Lake
Ngebel.
Well. That’s all the story about Lake Ngebel. Now it becomes a famous tourism area in Ponorogo.
Thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum wr wb.
